Heritage and transformation
The project proposes the complete recovery of the Santa Cecilia estate, a historic site near the Real Sitio de San Ildefonso, bound to the landscape of the river Eresma, the Pontón Alto reservoir and the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The work makes the most of its natural and built heritage through the restoration of the small palace, the old stables and the keeper's house. The palace becomes a luxury hotel of fifteen rooms, while the estate takes on new rural, gastronomic, cultural and educational uses.

The new buildings — individual rooms, a children's rest area and a private restaurant — are conceived in timber and timber products, under criteria of simplicity, lightness and demountability. Drawn from the spirit of Japanese vernacular building, they are set out to sit within their surroundings and to be removed in future without leaving a physical trace.
The landscape is the thread running through the project. Granite and local timber, native planting, the paths and the presence of water make a natural and changing garden, conceived from sustainability and from respect for the wildlife, the plants and the memory of the place.
