The beauty of the process

The project, carried out by Clara del Río, turns an industrial building into a flower and fruit workshop drawn from the spirit of the Dutch greenhouse. The work begins by making the most of what was there: the breadth of the building, the height of its ceilings and the presence of its steel structure and rooflights, whose daylight sets the character of the whole.

The proposal rests on an honest architecture, where iron and glass are left bare, without artifice, as a direct expression of the work and the craft. Space and activity are in constant conversation, joining use and beauty in a setting made to put the creative and productive process of the workshop in plain view.

Inside, the layout turns on long work tables, set out to support a collaborative chain in preparing and handling the produce.

The materials of the project — iron, concrete, stone and earthy finishes — build an atmosphere that is sober, candid and full of character. To that industrial base is added the warmth of natural materials, striking a balance between the technical precision of the installation and the handmade sensibility that defines the workshop.

Naranjas de la China

Following the same logic of transparency, pipes, drainage, lighting and cold rooms stay exposed and built into the architecture. The services become part of the interior landscape and reinforce the frank reading of the space.

The result is a workshop that is bright, robust and essential, where industrial bareness becomes the ground for work that is authentic, efficient and deeply tied to the craft.
